Hands holding as rod.
This is a sketch of a pair of hands drawn in charcoal. Hands are hard to draw and I feel I need to practice them often to get them correct. I drew this in my sketchbook and used a soft charcoal pencil as my medium. I was very happy with the result of the sketch. I tried to get the strength of the hands in my drawing, and the integrity of a worker resting on his tool.
I tried to use the dark textured background to make the drawing of the hands appear forward.
If someone is interested in learning how to draw in charcoal my advice is to draw and draw and draw do not give up. It is a little messy at first and hard to control but in the end will be very rewarding.
